ONE KILN CERAMICS is a ceramic studio based in Kagoshima, meaning "one kiln."
The glazes for their ASH series are made by adding volcanic ash from Sakurajima, a symbol of Kagoshima.
This series is the culmination of many years of trial and error, adjusting the amount of ash and firing temperature.
Individual color variations are due to the item's position in the kiln and chemical reactions in the glaze.
This glaze develops a richer texture with use, and its aging process is one of its charms.
