R.ALAGAN "HISHI DROP EARRINGS / BLACK"
These earrings combine tourmaline, cut in a菱 (hishi/diamond) pattern, with plump, lustrous onyx beads.
The hishi pattern is also used in heraldry, and the "撒菱 (makibishi)" used by ninjas to escape pursuit is said to be based on the water caltrop fruit.
The design is modern while also evoking a Japanese sensibility.

Born in Gunma Prefecture to a Taiwanese mother and a Japanese father, she grew up surrounded by nature. Her ethnic sensibilities were cultivated during her extensive time in Taiwan as a child, and she was strongly influenced by modernism and vintage styles after moving to Los Angeles in her adolescence.
Established R.ALAGAN in 2016.
She creates jewelry with uncompromising craftsmanship alongside Japanese jewelers.
