"Riyar" means the sea, and is woven like waves, arranged over a geometric structure.
The Riyar has a unique appearance from every angle.

During the day, it has the refreshing feel of Cyperus alternifolius. Once the sun sets and it gets dark, lighting it up creates an atmosphere perfect for enjoying a meal slowly, relaxing with music, or reading.

In Taiwan's beautiful rice paddies, rice, Cyperus alternifolius, and Cyrtococcum patens coexist along the rice paddy ridges.
Tall Cyperus alternifolius and short Cyrtococcum patens coexist in the rice paddies.
Rice becomes grain, Cyperus alternifolius is woven into mats, and Cyrtococcum patens is used to make alcohol.
This is daily life in the port town.
The vibrant Cyperus alternifolius grown in clear terraced rice paddies is used as a traditional weaving material by the Amis people of the coastal region.

《KAMARO'AN》
The term "tribe" has become established as a collective noun for people, often used to describe non-indigenous groups.
Early on, these were small communities that gradually expanded into cities, kingdoms, empires, and eventually globalized.
The world is slowly becoming homogenized. People share the same modern systems and pursue universal values.
Fortunately, Taiwan has a small number of indigenous peoples who are diligently preserving their unique values, traditional cultures, and craft techniques,
meticulously maintaining and accumulating ethnic knowledge.
However, similar to many rural areas worldwide, regions with long-standing traditions and cultures are facing decline,
as younger generations move to cities, leaving no successors. This results in a loss of vitality and creativity in local communities and economies.
KAMARO'AN aims to inspire people by reflecting on the familiar objects of generations past, seeking the original purity and timeless
essence that objects embody.
Based on the strong belief that objects, rather than copywriting, interviews, or campaigns, truly reveal local culture and values, KAMARO'AN was launched in 2013 as a project by a team of two industrial designers and one indigenous culture researcher. They explored the potential of integrating traditional crafts and their cultural values into product design.
It has been established as a brand since 2015.
Inspired by Taiwan's indigenous culture, KAMARO'AN pursues delicate craftsmanship with clean designs. Working closely with local artisans and resources, the brand strives to create jobs for young people with indigenous backgrounds, supporting and maintaining local traditions and working environments.
The name KAMARO'AN comes from "Pangcah," the indigenous language of the Amis, one of Taiwan's indigenous peoples. It reflects their harmonious way of life and their appreciation for handmade daily necessities, adhering to practical rather than flashy weaving methods.
KAMARO'AN celebrates the uniqueness, timeless beauty, and precision that hands can bring to life.
