《SUKU HOME》
A lifestyle homeware brand based in Melbourne, Australia, founded by Christin Lafian.
Growing up in Indonesia, designer Christine Lafian was inspired by her environment, surrounded by countless colors and patterns, and her desire to incorporate tribal artwork into the modern home.
She believes that the home is an extension of the self, and with this in mind, her various pieces are selected and designed with love and sincerity.
Christine was inspired by the small coastal villages of Indonesia, traveling around her native country to collect the work of local artisans and discover their unique aesthetic and style.
The combination of traditional pattern work and bold, colorful designs highlights SUKU's rare and beautiful nature.
SUKU is rooted in authenticity, sustainability, ethical fair trade practices and shared experiences, connecting a global community.
Real people with real stories expertly handcraft each piece, weaving their lives into it.
It's not just a decorative item.
Suku Home's vision of sustainable clothing is one that emphasizes the background of the product itself, the production process, and its actual functionality.
The products reflect the natural beauty and richness of Indonesia and its traditional textiles.
Suku Home is focused on social and environmental sustainability and maintains partnerships with artisans and their communities across Indonesia.
Every design and brand decision is based on this philosophy.
We strive to be transparent and conscious in providing products that our customers can use with ease.
The materials used have been carefully selected for your comfort and with consideration for their impact on the environment and global community.
We place the utmost importance on the production process, selecting materials that allow for small-scale production by local artisans in sustainable, fair trade operations.
Using natural fabrics such as bamboo and organic cotton, skilled Balinese artisans use traditional Indonesian batik techniques of dip dyeing and hand painting, a delicate process that takes around three weeks to complete.
Embroidery and knitwear are also handcrafted in small-scale environments, preserving the grace and skill of tradition.
Natural dyeing and handcrafting are delicate and time-consuming processes, but they make each piece beautiful and unique. We deliver one-of-a-kind Suku Home products, made with love and care.
