It began as a small community, then expanded into a city, kingdom, empire, and finally globalization.
The bay is home to a small number of indigenous people who are dedicated to preserving their unique values, traditional culture, crafts and traditions, and continuing their ethnic knowledge.
The economy is shrinking, losing vitality and creativity in its communities and economies.
He inspires people to look back at the mundane objects that have become familiar to generations and seek out the original purity and timeless essence they reflect.
Based on the strong belief that it is not a show or a campaign, but a product, KAMARO'AN was launched in 2013 as a project by a team of two industrial designers and one indigenous culture researcher to explore the possibility of embodying traditional crafts and cultural values ​​in product design.
Inspired by Taiwan's indigenous culture, KAMARO'AN pursues delicate craftsmanship with clean designs, working closely with local artisans and resources, creating workplaces for young people with indigenous backgrounds, and paying attention to supporting and preserving local traditions and working environments.
The name KAMARO'AN comes from the Amis people's Pangcah folk language, one of the indigenous peoples of Taiwan, who value handmade everyday items that reflect their way of life in harmony with nature, and are committed to using flashy yet practical weaving techniques.
