KAMARO'AN
A tribe is a collective term for people that has become established as a way of describing different ethnic groups.
It begins as a small community, then expands into a city, kingdom, empire, and finally globalization.
The world is gradually becoming more homogenous: people share the same modern system and strive for universal values.
Fortunately, Taiwan has a strong tradition of preserving its unique values, traditional culture, and craftsmanship.
Only a few indigenous people remain who have carefully preserved and accumulated their ethnic knowledge.
However, like many rural areas around the world, in areas with long-standing traditions and cultures,
The younger generation has left for the cities, leaving no successors, and as a result,
Local communities and economies are shrinking, losing vitality and creativity.
Looking back at the commonplace objects that have been familiar to generations, we can see the original purity and timelessness that they reflect.
We inspire people to seek the essence.
What truly reveals the culture and values of a place is not copywriting, interviews, or campaigns, but
With a strong belief that objects are objects, KAMARO'AN was founded in 2013 by two industrial designers.
A team of indigenous cultural researchers explores the possibility of embodying traditional crafts and their cultural values in product design.
It started as an exploration project.
It has been established as a brand since 2015.
Inspired by Taiwan's indigenous culture, KAMARO'AN pursues delicate craftsmanship with clean designs.
Working closely with local artisans and resources, we create jobs for young people from indigenous backgrounds.
We strive to support and preserve local traditions and working conditions.
The name KAMARO'AN comes from the Amis people's folk language, Pangcah, which is one of the indigenous peoples of Taiwan, and is in harmony with nature.
We value handmade everyday items that reflect a way of life, and we are committed to weaving in a flashy yet practical way.
KAMARO'AN celebrates the uniqueness, timeless beauty and precision that hands can bring to life.
