For me, someone who loves thinking about details and specifications, winter outerwear is something I can create with great enjoyment. I draw while imagining the finished product in my head, considering things like detachable hoods, pocket details, and fabric selection. At the same time, I also think about the internal structure, sewing specifications, and sewing procedures, and I consider all of these tasks to be part of the design process. I reconsidered the sewing procedure in several places, but the finished item was exactly as I had imagined: a men's item that can be thrown on without worrying about the inner layer and still look stylish. The detachable hood uses a reversible zipper, allowing the wearer to change the appearance from the front as they prefer. Thinsulate is used for the padding to enhance heat retention, and the lining uses a 2-ply cupro fabric with Arimatsu Shibori. The Arimatsu Shibori pattern is the "Nagashizome Grid Shibori," which I have recently come to like and use. It is a matter of course for men's clothing to have a sense ofこだわり (attention to detail) and playfulness in the lining.

Ultra-High Density Shield Cotton Cloth (Enshu region)
An ultra-high-density cotton material that has been provided to the Self-Defense Forces for many years as a water-resistant fabric.This waterproof fabric has an extreme number of threads, causing the fibers to swell when immersed in water, making it difficult for water to pass through.Weighing approximately 250g, it is very useful for outerwear throughout the year, offering appropriate stiffness, a self-standing wrinkled texture, and a synthetic-like feel for a cotton textile, making it a very good material for tailoring.

2-ply Cupro × Cotton + Arimatsu Shibori (Fujiyoshida region + Aichi Prefecture)
An indispensable textile for the lining of Yamauchi's autumn/winter items.It is difficult to find a woven fabric that can stand up to Yamauchi's masculine outer fabric and also function as a lining.As a lining, good slipperiness is required. Cupro is valued as a high-quality lining, but most common cupro materials are soft enough to drape.Therefore, by using twisted cupro yarn for the warp, the softness of conventional cupro was improved, and by weaving cotton into the weft, a sense of firmness and strength was created.This is a unique lining that combines both functionality and durability.

In Aichi Prefecture, where Yamauchi is located, there is a town called Arimatsu that prospered through shibori dyeing.Facing the successor problem that all production areas in Japan are currently experiencing, the number of Arimatsu Shibori artisans is decreasing year by year, and now only a handful remain.Since the brand's inception, Yamauchi has been exploring various possibilities of shibori with the 5th generation owner of a processing factory.With the desire to spread the beauty and enjoyment of Arimatsu Shibori, a wonderful traditional craft, we strive to offer at least one item incorporating Arimatsu Shibori each season.We hope you will enjoy the unique patterns that can only be created at that moment and feel the history of Arimatsu Shibori, which has continued since the Edo period.
