《SUKU HOME》
A lifestyle and homeware brand founded by "Christin Lafian" based in Melbourne, Australia.
Growing up in Indonesia, designer Christine Lafian was surrounded by countless colors and patterns, and inspired by the desire to incorporate tribal cultural
artworks
into contemporary homes, she launched the brand.
She believes that the home is an extension of oneself, and with that in mind, various works are selected and designed with love and integrity.
Christine drew inspiration from small coastal villages in Indonesia, traveling across her home country
to collect works from local artisans, unearthing her own unique aesthetic and style.
The combination of traditional pattern work and bold, colorful designs highlights SUKU's rare and beautiful natural elements.
SUKU is rooted in authenticity and sustainability, connecting global communities through ethical fair trade practices and shared experiences.
Real people with real stories skillfully handcraft each product, weaving their lives into their creations.
They are not merely ornaments.
Suku Home's vision for sustainable clothing emphasizes the background and production process of the product itself, as well as its practical functionality.
The products reflect Indonesia's natural beauty, richness, and traditional textiles.
Suku Home focuses on social and environmental sustainability, maintaining partnerships with artisans and their communities throughout Indonesia.
All design decisions and brand choices are based on this philosophy.
We strive to provide products that customers can use comfortably, with transparency and mindfulness.
The materials used are carefully selected to prioritize customer comfort and to consider their impact on the environment and international communities.
The production process is given the highest priority, with material selection made possible by small-scale production by local artisans who operate sustainably and on a fair trade basis.
Using natural fabrics such as bamboo and organic cotton, the traditional Indonesian batik technique of dip-dyeing and hand-painting, performed by skilled Balinese artisans,
is a very delicate process that takes about three weeks to complete.
Embroidery and knitting are also created by hand in small-scale environments, conveying the blessings of tradition and skilled craftsmanship.
Natural dyeing and handicrafts are delicate and labor-intensive processes, but each creation is beautifully unique. We deliver one-of-a-kind Suku Home products made with love and intention.
