《KAMAROA'N》
Tribe is a "collective name for people" that has become established as a way to express different ethnic groups.
Initially small communities, they gradually expanded into cities, kingdoms, empires, and globalization.
The world is gradually becoming more homogeneous. People share the same modern system and pursue universal values. Fortunately, Taiwan is home to a small number of indigenous people who have diligently inherited and carefully preserved their unique values, traditional culture, and craft techniques, while accumulating ethnic knowledge.
However, as in many rural areas around the world, in areas with long-standing traditions and cultures, younger generations leave for the cities, leaving behind no successors and, as a result, reducing the vitality of local communities and economies. It continues to shrink, with creativity being lost.
It inspires people to look back at the mundane objects that have been familiar to them for generations, and to seek out their original purity and timeless essence.
Based on the strong belief that what truly reveals the culture and values of a land is not copywriting, interviews, or campaigns, but rather objects, KAMAROA'N was founded in 2013 by two industrial designers and one This project was started by a team of indigenous culture researchers to explore the possibility of embodying traditional crafts and their cultural values in product design.
It has been established as a brand since 2015. Inspired by Taiwan's indigenous culture, KAMAROA'N pursues delicate craftsmanship with clean design, working closely with local artisans and resources to create workplaces for young people with indigenous backgrounds. , is committed to supporting and preserving local traditions and working environments.
The origin of the name KAMAROA'N is that we cherish handmade daily necessities that reflect the way of life in harmony with nature of Pangcah, the folk language of the Amis, one of the indigenous peoples of Taiwan. I am particular about.
KAMAROA'N celebrates the uniqueness, timeless beauty, and precision that the hand can bring to life.
