TENDER Co. "TYPE 457 FROCK SHIRT / PURPLE LOGWOOD"

Regular price ₩610,000

The FROCK SHIRT combines a three-pocket work shirt with a tailored frock coat design. The fabric is cut on the cross-grain with no side seams. The shoulder seam slopes from the center back of the neck to the back of the armhole, and then connects to the sleeve seam, which runs along the back of the sleeve to the cuff. This cutting method is reminiscent of 18th and 19th-century dress coats; the sloping shoulder line creates a cleaner look on the front, and the slight bias allows the fabric to conform smoothly to the interlining. The shirt is cut with a deeply rounded tail, and all seams are sewn with cotton thread. It is finished with metal buttons wrapped in dyed cotton and a "Made in USA" blue label.

・LOGWOOD・
Logwood, also known as bloodwood, is a tree native to the West Indies and South America. For centuries, the Aztecs and Mayans used logwood to create purple and black dyes. When it was introduced to Europe by the Spanish in the 15th century, its value was highly regarded. In the 1570s, Elizabeth I of England ordered privateers to capture Spanish logwood shipments, escalating tensions between the two nations, which ultimately led to the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.
*Like other natural dyes, logwood's color development is less stable than modern synthetic dyes. Therefore, phenomena such as color transfer, unevenness, mottling, or fading are considered desirable characteristics.

・About TENDER Co. MADE IN USA・
In 2024, TENDER Co. relocated its base and production from Gloucestershire, UK, to Pennsylvania, USA. To avoid long-distance operations, new seasonal garments are now sewn close to the new base. While design and pattern cutting continue to be done in-house, each country of production has its unique characteristics. We believe that by designing and manufacturing in the same location, we can create more consistent and complete products.
One reason for the distinctive texture of TENDER Co. garments is the choice of sewing machines used. Products sewn in the UK were primarily constructed with single-pass felled seams using feed-off-the-arm machines. Since these machines are not available at the new American factory, single-needle machines are used, resulting in a somewhat flatter and more refined seam. On the other hand, the seams are finished with two sewing processes, judged by eye, so the stitch lines are not perfectly uniform, and this slight unevenness adds a handcrafted touch. Garments made in the USA feature a blue woven label indicating the size.
