《SUKU HOME》
A lifestyle homeware brand based in Melbourne, Australia, founded by Christin Lafian.
Growing up in Indonesia, designer Christine Lafian was surrounded by a myriad of colors and patterns and was inspired by her desire to incorporate tribal artwork into the modern home.
She believes that the home is an extension of the self, and with this in mind, each piece is selected and designed with love and sincerity.
Christine was inspired by the small coastal villages of Indonesia and travelled extensively across her native country to collect the work of local artisans, uncovering her unique aesthetic and style.
A combination of traditional pattern work and bold, colorful designs highlight the rare and beautiful nature of SUKU.
SUKU is rooted in authenticity, sustainability, ethical fair trade practices and shared experiences, connecting a global community.
Real people with real stories expertly handcraft each and every piece, weaving their lives into it.
It's not just a decoration.
Suku Home's idea of sustainable clothing is one that emphasizes the background of the product itself, the production process, and its actual functionality.
The products reflect the natural beauty and richness of Indonesia and its traditional textiles.
Suku Home is focused on social and environmental sustainability and maintains partnerships with artisans and their communities across Indonesia.
Every design and brand decision is based on this philosophy.
We strive to be transparent and conscious in providing products that our customers can use with ease.
Our materials have been carefully selected for your comfort and with consideration for their impact on the environment and global community.
The production process is our number one priority, and we select materials that allow for small-scale production by local artisans in sustainable, fair trade operations.
The traditional Indonesian batik techniques of dip dye and hand painting are performed by skilled Balinese artisans using natural fabrics such as bamboo and organic cotton, and are a very delicate process that takes around three weeks to complete.
Embroidery and knitwear are also produced by hand in small-scale environments, conveying the grace and skill of tradition.
Natural dyeing and handcrafting are delicate and time-consuming processes, but they make each piece beautiful and unique. Each Suku Home product is made with love and care, making it one of a kind.
