Born in Gunma Prefecture to a Taiwanese mother and a Japanese father, he grew up surrounded by nature.
He spent much of his childhood in Taiwan, where he developed an ethnic sensibility, and moved to Los Angeles during his adolescence, which has influenced him strongly with modernism and vintage styles.
