-Plethora Garment Project

Plethora Garment Project is a case study in collaboration with dyeing artisans using the highest quality natural materials from Japan and Denmark.

The capsule collection is based on high-density Kurashiki canvas woven on traditional vintage shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan, with mud-dyeing techniques by Kanai Kogei of Amami-Oshima, Japan, and plant dyeing by Cecily Perfecto Fengberg of Denmark.

The collection is designed by Rihei Sato, a Japanese designer who is a close friend of Peter's.

KURASHIKI NATURAL CANVAS (Kurashiki Canvas, Okayama Prefecture)
Kurashiki Canvas, established in 1888 in Okayama Prefecture / TAKEYARI co.,ltd.
Using vintage random shuttle looms, the high-density woven canvas boasts unparalleled quality and durability.
The perfect blend of strength, fit, and comfort is achieved by using extra-thick No. 2 canvas, delicately textured No. 8 canvas, and soft and durable TK-485 canvas for each part.

TRADITIONAL JAPANESE MUD DYE - DOROZOME (Amami Oshima / Kanai Kougei Mud Dyeing)
Mud dyeing is achieved by repeatedly soaking the fabric in dyes made from the primitive soil of Amami-Oshima.
Native heirloom plums are boiled for 14 to 16 hours to extract the red dye. It is then left to rest for about a week. Alkaline ingredients extracted from limestone and coral are then mixed to make the basic dye.
Next, it is transported to an area on the island where mud containing iron and sediment from 1.5 million years ago has accumulated, and cycads and other plants are added to concentrate the iron and dye the cloth.
This process is repeated 80 times to dye the cloth in rich colors.

PLETHORA MAGAZINE
PLETHORA MAGAZINE, an art magazine from Copenhagen, Denmark, has a non-standard poster size of 70 x 50 cm, overturning the concept of a magazine. The publication is born out of a deep passion for fine art and the traditional printing techniques of Hindu temples, as well as a unique editorial content that features contemporary artists while carefully scrutinizing documents from the archives. In today's fast-paced world of digital printing, the content is carefully selected and produced on different papers and using different printing procedures to bring out the best of the photographs and artwork. PLETHORA MAGAZINE is more than a magazine, it is a work of art.
