《KAMARO'AN》
A tribe is a collective name for people that has become established as a way of describing different ethnic groups.
It begins as a small community and gradually expands into a city, kingdom, empire, and then globalization.
The world is gradually becoming homogenized. People share the same modern system and pursue universal values. Fortunately, Taiwan still has a small number of indigenous peoples who are dedicated to passing on and cherishing their unique values, traditional culture, and craft techniques, while accumulating ethnic knowledge.
However, like many rural areas around the world, areas with long-standing traditions and culture are shrinking as younger generations move to the cities, leaving them with no successors and resulting in a loss of vitality and creativity in their communities and economies.
He inspires people to look back at the ordinary objects that have been familiar to generations and seek out the original purity and timeless essence that these objects reflect.
Based on the strong belief that it is objects, rather than copywriting, interviews or campaigns, that truly reveal the culture and values of a region, KAMARO'AN was launched in 2013 as a project by a team of two industrial designers and one indigenous culture researcher to explore the possibility of embodying traditional crafts and their cultural values in product design.
It has been established as a brand since 2015. Inspired by Taiwan's indigenous culture, KAMARO'AN pursues delicate craftsmanship with clean designs, working closely with local artisans and resources, creating jobs for young people with indigenous backgrounds, and striving to support and preserve local traditions and working conditions.
The name KAMARO'AN comes from the idea of valuing handmade everyday items that reflect the way of life in harmony with nature of the Amis people, one of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, known as Pangcah, and the company's commitment to flashy yet practical weaving methods.
KAMARO'AN celebrates the uniqueness, timeless beauty and precision that hands can bring to life.
