《KAMARO'AN》
Tribe is a "collective name for people" that has become established as a way to express different ethnic groups.
Initially small communities, they gradually expanded into cities, kingdoms, empires, and globalization.
The world is gradually becoming more homogeneous. People share the same modern system and pursue universal values.
Fortunately, Taiwan has passionately inherited its unique values, traditional culture, and craft techniques.
A small number of indigenous peoples remain, who have carefully preserved and accumulated ethnic knowledge.
However, like many rural areas around the world, in areas with ancient traditions and cultures,
As the younger generation moves to the cities, there is no successor, and as a result,
Local communities and economies continue to shrink, losing their vitality and creativity.
Looking back at the commonplace things that we have become accustomed to over generations, and discovering the pure nature and timelessness of things.
We inspire people in search of the essence.
True disclosure of local culture and values is not through copywriting, interviews, or campaigns;
Based on the strong belief that it is a thing, KAMARO'AN collaborated with two industrial designers in 2013.
A team of indigenous culture researchers explores the possibility of embodying traditional crafts and their cultural values in product design.
It started as an exploratory project.
It has been established as a brand since 2015.
Inspired by Taiwan's indigenous culture, KAMARO'AN pursues delicate craftsmanship with clean design.
Creating workplaces for young people from indigenous backgrounds, working closely with local artisans and resources;
We are committed to supporting and preserving local traditions and working environments.
The origin of the name KAMARO'AN comes from the word Pangcah, the folk language of the Amis, one of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, which is in harmony with nature.
We value handmade daily necessities that reflect our way of life, and are particular about weaving methods that are flashy but practical.
KAMARO'AN celebrates the uniqueness, timeless beauty, and precision that the hand can bring to life.
