The RAKAR CROSSBODY BAG is KAMARO'AN's modern interpretation of the RAKAR, a conical, lidded basket formerly used for catching fish.
(It is derived from a cocoon-shaped fish trap with a lid.)
The lid, called a "Padiwawa", and the conical shape allow fish and shrimp to swim inside but not escape,
making it difficult for contents to fall out.
Wrap a scarf around it or use it as a styling accent.

《KAMARO'AN》
"Tribe" is a collective term for people that has become established as a way to describe different ethnic groups.
Initially, they were small communities that gradually expanded into cities, kingdoms, empires, and then globalization.
The world is gradually homogenizing. People share the same modern systems and pursue universal values.
Fortunately, in Taiwan, there remain a few indigenous peoples who enthusiastically inherit their unique values, traditional culture, and craft techniques,carefully preserving and accumulating ethnic knowledge.
However, like many rural areas worldwide, regions with long-standing traditions and cultures are seeing young generations move to cities, leaving no successors, and as a result,
these communities are steadily shrinking, losing their vitality and creativity in society and the economy.
KAMARO'AN inspires people to look back at the familiar things that have been around for generations, seeking the original, pure form that objects reflect and their timeless essence.
With a strong belief that it is objects, not copywriting, interviews, or campaigns, that truly reveal the culture and values of a land, KAMARO'AN was started in 2013 by a team of two industrial designers andone indigenous culture researcher as a project to explore the possibilities of embodying traditional crafts and their cultural values in product design.
It has been established as a brand since 2015.
Inspired by Taiwan's indigenous culture, KAMARO'AN pursues delicate craftsmanship with clean designs, and by working closely with local artisans and resources, it strives to create workplaces for young people with indigenous backgrounds,supporting and maintaining local traditions and working environments.
The name KAMARO'AN comes from the Pangcah (Pantsaha) language of the Amis, one of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, and reflects their way of life in harmony with nature, valuing handmade daily necessities, andこだわっています and insists on elaborate but practical weaving methods.
KAMARO'AN celebrates the uniqueness, timeless beauty, and precision that hands can breathe life into.
